Dollard-des-Ormeaux International Day

SUNDAY, August 19, 2018, at Centennial Park, DDO
Rain or shine
12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This unique event brings people together from different origins to celebrate the diversity and culture of our community. The cultural performances will leave you fascinated. Come and discover interesting treasures from the communities and learn interesting fun facts. You will also have the chance to sample traditional food. This event is a great opportunity to socialize with your neighbours and people from other cultural backgrounds.

The Greek Orthodox Community of West Island will participate in this event, as we have done for the past 8 years. We will prepare on-site BBQ souvlakis  along with  spanakopita and tiropita on pita bread for about 600 persons. All communities in the DDO district will prepare their traditional food.

Every Community will present their native dances on stage for about 7 minutes. We expect our Youth Group to be present and present our Greek Dances.

Food is free and it will be served from 3 to 4 PM

Saturday Greek School Pythagoras

• Our Greek school Pythagoras starts the 2018-2019 season on Sept 8th 2018
• The Saturday Greek School Pythagoras is operated and financed by the Greek Orthodox Community of West Island.
• The School Parents committee is organising additional events and fundraising activities for the support the financial needs for the Greek School operation.

Youth Group Meetings

• The youth group meets every  Thursday (Sept to May) at 7:00 pm at the church basement.

Community Fundraising Gala 2018

• The 2018  Community Fundraising Gala will take place at Milos Restaurant on Oct 28, 2018 at 6: 00 PM.
• Over 130 persons are expected to attend this event.
• The Guests of Honor at the event will be:

– The Honourable Nicolas Sigalas, Consul General of Greece

– Frank Baylis, MP Pierrefonds-Dollard-des-Ormeaux

– Francis Scarpaleggia, MP Lac-Saint-Luis

– Carlos Leitao, Minister of Finance, Depute de Robert Baldwyn

–Alex Battausci, Mayor of Dollard-des-Ormeaux

The  profit from the Gala  will be allocated to the Building fund that supports the Mortgage payments and capital reduction

Members Annual General Assembly Meeting

• • The membership annual meeting took place on Monday November 19, 2018.

School Fundraising Gala (2019)

• • The first Pythagoras School Fundraising Gala event will take place on Feb 3rd, 2019 at Olympia Reception Hall
  • Over 350 adults and more than 60 kids are expected to attend this event.
  • The parents committee will organize games for the kids, Silent Auction, Raffle tickets and a trip to Greece
  • The net profit from this event  will be allocated to the Pythagoras School
